Burlington Resources, the largest independent gas and oil Exploration Company in the US acquired a similar organisation to strengthen its presence overseas. As is often the case with acquisitions, Burlington encountered difficulty merging the other company and developing a strategy for international business development.
Quo were charged with developing a strategy and plan to merge the two businesses with an accompanying Change Management plan.
Quo’s creative answer to these problems in Change Management was progressive and dynamic. First we assessed the capability of the management population to operate within the business strategy and its challenges.
Next, all the senior executives worked with individual coaches to understand the nature of the challenges ahead and the strategies to overcome them. Finally, the executives worked with Quo to develop a Change-Management programme to deliver the new orientation and behaviours throughout the organisation.
The programme helped Burlington to deliver a significantly reduced cost base, and a profitability hike directly attributable to the individuals participating in the programme.
