PSM are a West Midlands engineering company who were relocating part of their manufacturing capability to the Czech Republic, with the result that a significant number of staff needed to be made redundant.
Among them were a sizeable number of machinists, many of whom had spent their whole career at the company working on what by today's standards were antiquated machinery, which naturally meant that there was no route back into a similar job.
None of these staff had any IT experience or know-how, so part of the outplacement programme that Quo devised was onsite training in using IT for basic purposes like writing letters but also to search the web for job opportunities.
Another group were to be made redundant but were temporarily working as expats to bed some of the newer machinery into the Czech factory. Quo spent time in the Republic assisting them in person and also established an online support centre to aid job-seeking and re-training.
