Behavioural method
Our approach starts with a diagnostic to understand the root causes of poor employee motivation and engagement. We have developed an innovative new dynamic tool which measures the degree of engagement in an organisation. This looks at the principal sources of employee motivation and provides the organisation with an understanding of the strength of the “psychological contract” with its employees. We also track the ongoing cost of indicators like absenteeism.
Our analysis drives creative thinking to address the problem. We work with key people up and down the organisation to set clear goals to enhance engagement and target levels of performance. We use a systematic five-step method to shape and change behaviour, by understanding what motivates the individuals involved and building behaviour-based reinforcement programmes.
Quo has found that these questions can sometimes usefully be dealt with earlier in the engagement cycle. We have developed an assessment tool which gives reliable indicators of an individual’s likelihood to stay engaged with a job based on their personality profile.
With an empirical profile of the personal characteristics that relate to disengagement, we can advise on how to construct recruiting programmes that deliver more engaged staff for the future. And we can apply creative behaviour-based approaches to promote the retention of key employees.
Quo’s interventions have successfully reduced absenteeism by 35% in an eight-week period; increased sales income by 25% over the same period. In other cases, we have helped contribute £20m cost savings simply through reducing time off and promoting better engagement.
